CGA Simulation was named as one of the growing stars of Liverpool City Region’s digital sector during the LCR Tech Climbers 2023 list reveal event on Thursday 9th February.
Tech Climbers showcases the top-performing technology-led businesses that make LCR one of the UK’s most exciting tech destinations. The regional list, published with BusinessCloud and TechBlast, celebrates the top-performing, IP-rich, product-led technology businesses. The criterion for nominees evaluates company impact, innovation, and investment.
Businesses topping the list are solving world problems, generating economic growth, and creating positive environmental and social outcomes. They develop cutting-edge, ground-breaking technologies and accelerate digital advancement. Their technology is scalable and commercially viable, and creating annual company growth.
Judges considered nominations from businesses which demonstrate significant operations in LCR, are providing a unique tech solution to an existing problem and are creating disruption in their target sectors.
CGA is a Liverpool-based SME that specialises in high-quality driving simulations and digital twins for Smart City applications. They have conducted several large-scale industrial research projects, including ALEAD, a simulated environment for Connected and Autonomous Vehicle development, and Liverpool 5G’s network planning tool using future technology solutions that model real-world locations and scenarios, for the Liverpool 5G Health and Social Care project.
CGA uses innovative computer gaming expertise and emerging technologies knowledge to solve problems from the real world. CGA has created bespoke AR and VR interactive content for clients including BBC, AMD, MOD, and Intel. CGA’s artificial intelligence simulation platforms included a disaster response modelling system for the Ministry of Defence, driving simulator for both people and cars, network planning tool, logistics hub and even mapping the spread of COVID-19.
Their core driving simulators include: ALEAD, teaching autonomous vehicle technology to drive online; COSMO, a smart-city solution giving drivers cheaper, environmentally friendly navigation options, and Virtual Driving School, testing the driving skills of learner drivers against a panoply of hazards in a virtual environment.
As founder members of Liverpool 5G Create, a multi-million-pound DCMS funded health, social care, and education project, CGA created the 5G planning tool used to model and plan one of the largest private public sector 5G networks in Europe and which won Digital Leaders 5G Innovation Award 2021.
CGA’s team combines gaming experience from companies like Sony and CGA’s sister company, CGA Studio, with academic research and commercial insight. CGA creates applications that are exciting, immersive, and futuristic. The company continues to make advancements that benefit the North-West and beyond. Their most recently completed project was a last-mile freight tool for Transport for Greater Manchester that simulates urban environments to predict the best place for infrastructure to enable radical development in logistics.
Currently, CGA is expanding their reach internationally, partnered with South Korean artificial intelligence company Pintel on Virtual Cities and Autonomous Learning, a 3-year Innovate UK-funded project. ViCAL will explore to what extent simulated environments can be used to train deep learning AI designed around capturing video and using that data to detect road traffic accidents.
CGA is thrilled to be recognised among other innovative tech companies operating in Liverpool and looks forward to working alongside members to make a difference in the region.
